Funeral services for Ruth Ann Young, age 87, of Enid, will be at 2 PM Friday in the Ladusau – Evans Chapel with Rev. Lucinda Holmes and Rev. Wayne Loftin officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Ladusau – Evans Funeral Home.

Ruth Ann was born July 10, 1908 at Cherokee, Oklahoma, to Hanby L and Emma Jane Kephart Young and died Wednesday in St. Mary's Mercy Hospital following a period of ill health. She had been a resident of Enid since 1923. She graduated from Enid High School in 1923 and graduated with a Bachelor Degree and Master Degree from Phillips University. She taught school for 41 years, teaching at Goltry, Emerson Junior High, and was principal at McKinley and Eisenhower Elementary Schools. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, American Association of University Women, K. K. I. Sorority and the Retired Teachers Association.

She is survived by her family, Betty Evans – Ralph; Ruth Ann Evans; Margaret Jo Marlatt and her husband, Dennis; and their children; Amanda Marlatt and Amy Carver, all of Enid; and a number of cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Helen Young.

Memorials may be made through the Ladusau – Evans Funeral Home to Hospice, Circle of Love.
