ENID, Okla. - Funeral service for Ivy Young, 90, of Enid, will be 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Carrell Still of Willow Road Christian Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Ivy was born July 5, 1923, in Grantham, England, to Jonathan and Lillian Sharp and passed away Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, in Enid.

She was raised and educated in Grantham. She worked at a bomb factory in support of the war effort.

Set met an American soldier, Louis Young during the war. They were married July 28, 1945, in Grantham, England. The couple moved to Enid after the war. She was one of the last living war brides in northwest Oklahoma.

She was a waitress for many years at Three Towers Restaurant and then was a hostess at the Sage Room Restaurant until her retirement.

She is survived by her son, Mike Young of Enid; daughter, Jennifer and husband Bill Tucker of Enid; grandchildren, Teresa Hambrick-Ross and husband Russell of Enid, Christy L. Young-Doba and husband Larry of Chewy, Okla., Gary Balch and wife Debby of Enid, and Larry Balch and wife Chris of Enid; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sisters and one brother.

Memorials in her name may be made to American Cancer Society with Brown-Cummings Serving as custodian of the funds.
