Services for Jesse E. Upp, 74, who died Tuesday at his home after a lengthy illness, will be at 2 PM Friday in the Ladusau – Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Paul Enabnit, pastor of the Davis Park Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Upp was born September 21, 1912, at Tulsa and had been a resident of Enid since 1954, moving here from Texas City, Texas. He and Josephine Imboden were married February 17, 1945, at Aruba. He attended military school in Missouri and graduated from Oklahoma University with a degree in mechanical engineering.

He had worked in Aruba, Ponca City and Texas City before coming to Enid, then worked at Champlin Refinery until his retirement.

After retiring, he worked at the Oakwood Country Club as a tennis pro for three years.

Upp was a member of the Davis Park Christian Church where he was a deacon and Sunday school teacher.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. Survivors are his wife, Josephine "Jo", of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Jim (Jane) Carreker, Miami, Florida, and Mrs. Glen (Judy) Buchanan, Enid; a stepson, Jerry Schwedtfeger, Rockport, Texas, and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Garfield County Hospice Association through the funeral home.

The casket will remain closed after the service.
