The funeral for Jesse Upchurch, 69, will be 10 AM Monday in Brown Funeral Home Chapel, Enid, with the Rev. Dennis Treat officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

He was born February 2, 1929, in LaFlore County, Mississippi, to Jesse Sr. and Lula Davis Upchurch and died Thursday, October 29, 1998 at St. Mary's Mercy Hospital.

He was raised and educated in Mississippi. He served in the Army in Panama in 1948. After his discharge, he moved to Enid. He married Christine Wright on September 24, 1949, at Enid. He worked in various oilfield jobs. He was a Baptist by faith.

He is survived by his wife, Christine, of the home; two daughters, Brenda Gray of Oklahoma City, Janice Milligan of Enid; five grandchildren; and six great – grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant son.

Memorials may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation with the funeral home serving as custodian of the fund.
