Funeral services for Virgil Arthur Tucker, 76, Oklahoma City, will be at 3:30 PM Wednesday in the Henninger – Allen Funeral Home Chapel.

Dr. Leslie G. Everitt, Jr. will officiate at the services and burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Henninger – Allen.

Tucker died Sunday evening in an Oklahoma City hospital following a lengthy illness. He was a former long time Enid resident and the son of a Cherokee Strip pioneer family.

He was born December 23, 1895, on a claim near Waukomis and moved to Enid in 1904. He attended Enid schools and was a clothier for the Meibergen and Godschalk firm.

He married the former Marie Bessier and she preceded him in death in 1967. They had lived for several years in McAllen, Texas, where he owned and operated a men's clothing firm until his retirement in 1965. At the time of his retirement, they moved to Oklahoma City where he remained until his death.

A veteran of World War I, he served with the SSU unit of the French Army. He was also a member of the VFW.

Survivors include four brothers, William, Oklahoma City, Leo, Enid, Floyd, Winter Park, Florida, and Clifford, Orlando, Florida, and 10 nieces and nephews.
