ENID — Christine Towns, 88, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, July 26, 2011. A celebration of her life will be 10 a.m. Monday, August 1, 2011, at Westside Church of God in Christ, with Rev. Norwood officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, with arrangements by Anderson - Burris Funeral Home.

Christine was born to Charles and Laura (Hartfield) Walls on April 4, 1923, in Maples, Texas. She attended school there, and then moved to Watonga with her family. Christine later moved to Enid, where she made her home. She accepted the Lord at an early age, under the leadership of Elder Thomas of COGIC. She married the love of her life, Rev. O.T. Towns, on October 22, 1965. Christine was a pastor's wife at Ponca City and Kingfisher. After Rev. Town's passing she was a member of Westside COGIC under the leadership of J.L. Norwood and now her present pastor Supt. D.L. Norwood. She was faithful in all her church work. Christine wore many hats in the church: teacher, leader, missionary in the local church, district and state. She also counseled many friends and family. Christine retired from Enid State School after 25 years of service.

She leaves to mourn her loss 22 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; aunt Mae Branch, Oklahoma City, and aunt Marie Butler, Enid; uncle Moses Hartfield, Enid; and many relatives and friends.

Christine was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. O.T. Towns; parents; brother; four children; granddaughter; and two aunts.
