The funeral services celebrating the life of Mrs. Mary E. Tanner, 88, of Enid, will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday June 27, 2017, in the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Kevin Strope officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. A Rosary will precede the funeral service at 7 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2017, in the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Mary was born on August 21, 1928, at Smithland, Kentucky, to Clarence and Myrtle Wadley Dunning and passed from this life on June 21, 2017. She moved to Enid in 1992 from Manhattan, Kansas, after retiring from AJ Pierson Furniture Store after 24 years of service. Mary married George Kilfoile on April 27, 1946, in Plainfield, Illinois. Three children were born to this union: Michael, David, and Phyllis. She always kept busy in retirement by crocheting, gardening, golfing, and volunteering at Our Daily Bread.

She is survived by a son, David Kilfoile of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; daughter, Phyllis Metcalfe of Mannford, Oklahoma; brothers, Bertrand Dunning of Pontiac, Illinois, Charles Dunning of Columbus, Mississippi; sisters, Wanda Hale of Carnell, Illinois, Elsie Edwards of Odell, Illinois, and Lynda Puckett of Streator, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Jenniffer Stone, Michelle Kitchens, and Gwinn Wilson of Enid, Oklahoma, Tim Metcalfe of Boston, Massachusetts, Bill Metcalfe, John Metcalfe of Mannford, Oklahoma, and Daniel Kilfoile of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael Kilfoile; sisters, Laveda Hjerpe and Patricia Clark.

Memorials can be made in her name to Our Daily Bread and Hospice Circle of Love, with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
