ENID, Okla. — Funeral service for John A. Swanson, 79, of Enid, Okla., will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at Hillsdale Bible Church, with Dr. Robert Courtney officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau- Evans Funeral Home.

John was born April 1, 1934, in Enid, Okla., to Roland and Pearl Kelly Swanson and passed away Sunday morning, Feb. 9, 2014, at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center.

John was raised in the Hillsdale community, where he attended school and graduated from Hillsdale High School in 1953.

John entered the U.S. Army on July 19, 1956, and was honorable discharged on July 18, 1962.

He married Treva L. Parker on April 7, 1957, in Wichita, Kan.

After his military duty, he moved back to Enid in 1962, where he went to work for Ivan Douchkoff Sheet Metal for four years. He worked for Kemph-Munsinger Heating and Air for 18 years. He owned John’s Tin Shop for 13 years. He taught his apprentice,Tim Choate, the sheet metal trade. He went to work for Luckinbill Inc. for 13 years, retiring in 2002 due to ill health.

John was a member of Hillsdale Bible Church, where he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior in 1974. He was a faithful member.

John loved the Hillsdale community. He was a founding board member of Hillsdale Christian School. He helped create the Saturday Morning Coffee, which has been going on for 35 years.

John is survived by his wife, Treva; two sons, Gerry Swanson and wife Linda of Enid, and David Swanson and wife Gineta of Ponca City; six grandchildren, Todd, Misty, Candi, Bonnie, Shelby and John David; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Glen Swanson and wife Tommye of Enid; sister, Ellen Willson and husband Tommy of Enid; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy; and granddaughter, Amy.

Memorials may be made to Hillsdale Christian School, with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.

November 4, 1939 - September 23, 2021

Funeral services for Treva Louise Swanson, 81, Ponca City resident, formerly of Enid, will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 in the Hillsdale Bible Church. Dr. Robert Courtney officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the kind guidance of the Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service.

Treva was born on November 4, 1939 in Woodward, Oklahoma, the daughter of Earl Parker and Nora Woodson Parker, and passed away peacefully on September 23, 2021 in Ponca City. She spent her childhood in numerous small towns in Kansas and Oklahoma. She met and married John Albert Swanson April 7, 1957 in a Methodist Church in Wichita, Ks. .It was love at first sight. They were married 56 years until his death in 2014 . Together they raised two sons, Gerry Noble, born 1958, and David Lee, 1959.

Treva had numerous and varied interests. She was an accomplished artist, woodworker, seamstress quilter and proud servant of God. She participated in her church's missionary program using her sewing skills for God’s glory. She enjoyed nature, traveling and taking care of her boys. Her sweet spirit and generous nature will be missed by all whose lives she touched.

She was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband John Swanson, granddaughter Amy Ladawn Swanson and brother Anthen Lee Parker.

She is survived by her brother Rodney Parker and his family, Gerry and Linda Swanson of Enid, David and Gineta Swanson of Ponca City, Ok. She has 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
