Robert Eugene Snowden, age 82, passed away peacefully in Corpus Christi, Texas, on Tuesday, September 25, 2018. He was born in Enid, Oklahoma, on May 5, 1936, to Harold and Opal Snowden, who preceded him in death.

He graduated from Enid High School in 1954. He was on the basketball team and was a member of the high school band where he played coronet and was the band president. He attended Oklahoma A&M (now Oklahoma State University) in Stillwater, Oklahoma, graduating in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering with a Petroleum Option. He also received a Master of Mathematics from Tulsa University.

After college he entered the military, completing his ROTC training by serving in the Army National Guard of Texas as Sergeant of Artillery Operations and Intelligence Assistant. After his military service, he was employed by Champlin Refining Company in Enid, Oklahoma. From there he was hired by Sun Oil Company and worked in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and was then transferred to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He later was relocated by Sun Oil Company to Corpus Christi, Texas, where he worked until his retirement in 1995.

He was a loving and devoted grandfather, giving himself completely, after his retirement, to full-time involvement in his grandchildren's care, as well as serving his son, Phil, in the operation and care of his Chiropractic Clinic in Corpus Christi, Texas.

He is survived by his son, Dr. Phil Snowden of Corpus Christi, TX; three grandchildren, Jennifer Snowden of Austin, Texas, Andrew Snowden of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Rebekah Snowden of Corpus Christi, Texas; three siblings, Mervin Snowden and wife, Joy, of Tulsa, OK, Rita Snowden Hauck and husband, Robert, of Fort Worth, TX, Connie Snowden Hoover and husband, Myron, of McPherson, KS; aunt, Eileen Snowden of Enid, OK; nine nieces and nephews, and a host of cousins.

He will be remembered lovingly by both the immediate and extended family by the ways he generously and selflessly gave of time and resources to serve them so well. His commitment to family was exemplary. He will be missed.

Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at Cedar Ridge Wesleyan Church, 5101 W. Randolph Ave., 73703, Enid, OK. Service will be officiated by Rev. Max Colaw, District Superintendent of the Wesleyan Church. Interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 6405 Memorial Dr., Enid, OK.
