Doris Jacqulyne Smith

Funeral service for Doris “Jackie” Smith, 80, of Kremlin, Okla., will be 1 p.m. today, March 10, 2015, at St.Paul’s Lutheran Church, with the Revs. Scott Whittenburg, Kenneth Wade and B.J. Barrick officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home & Crematory.

Jackie was born April 12, 1934, in Greenville, Texas, to Carl E. and Inez (Webster) Avery. She was raised by Lynn M. and Inez Phillips and passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2015, at her home in Kremlin.

Jackie moved to Enid, Okla., at an early age, graduated from Enid High School in 1952, and then graduated from Enid Business College.

On March 31, 1964, she married Leon “Skeeziks” Smith and they made their home in the Kremlin-Hillsdale area.

Jackie worked in the insurance business for 15 years. She helped Skeeziks farm for 10 years, drove the school bus and worked in the cafeteria at Kremlin-Hillsdale for nine years. Jackie was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Jackie is survived by five nieces and nephews: Jene and Larry Steffens-Haynes of Moore, Hal Drye III and Rita of Fayetteville, Ark., Jack and Pamela Drye of Oklahoma City, Kathi Erwin of Kremlin, and Karen and Ron Maxey of Moore; 11 great-nieces and nephews; 14 great-great-nieces and nephews; adopted family, Newt Roberts and family; and many good friends and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Skeeziks, and sister, Elizabeth “Lizzy” Drye.

Memorials may be made to Hillsdale Christian School or St. Paul’s Lutheran School.
