December 7, 1925 - July 8, 2012

The funeral service for Vernon A. Siegmann,86,Enid, will be Thursday, July 12th,2012 at 2:00 PM in the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sam Jerome officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. The Graveside Military Honors will be by the U.S. Army.

He was born December 7,1925 in Lovell, Okla. to Curtis C. and Stella R. Siegmann and died Sunday July 8th,2012 at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center.

At age six, he moved with his family to Hayward and attended Stanton school and then Hayward High School.

During WWII, he served in the U.S. Army European theatre, seeing action in the 89th Infantry, "Rolling W's", and was awarded two bronze stars. He finished his tour of duty with the 353rd Infantry in Europe.

Following his honorable discharge in 1946, he was a bricklayer in the construction of Phillips University.

He married Ida Faye Lochner in September of 1948 and they had two daughters.

He worked for Western Weighing Inspection Bureau as a transit clerk and later traveled as a grain elevator scale inspector in Oklahoma and Kansas. Following retirement, he remodeled and managed his rental properties.

He was an avid gardener and member of the Men's Garden Club.

He attended the Potter Church and was a sixty-five year member of the Enid VFW Post 2270 and many years in the Enid American Legion.

He is survived by two daughters: Janet Susan (Sue) Lyon and husband Edward of Enid, Sheryl A. Siegmann of Pueblo, Colorado ,two grandsons, Clinton Vernon Siegmann and Nathan Lyon and wife Laurie, one granddaughter, Susannah Herkert and husband, Bryce,four great grandchildren, Catie ,Calvin, and Lucie Lyon and Grady Herkert, and two sisters, Vivian Campbell of Enid and Janetta McGinnis of Enid. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and one brother.

Memorials in his name may be made to Potter Church with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
