October 27, 1940 - October 29, 2020

The services celebrating and honoring the life of Carolyn "Sue" Shook will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020, in the First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Bruce Johnson officiating; burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Sue was born Oct. 27, 1940, to Arthur and Emma McGowan in Enid, Okla., and passed from this life Oct. 28, 2020, in Rowlett, Texas.

She was raised and educated in Enid, Okla., and graduated with the class of 1958 from Enid High School.

She married Bill Shook March 8, 1959, in Enid. She attended Enid Business College then worked for Central Machine & Tool until 1986 and then for Northcutt Chevrolet until 1993. Bill and Sue were members of Enid First Church of the Nazarene until they moved to Branson, Mo., in 1993, where they built and opened Ozark Valley Inn. They were members of Ozark Mountain Christian Church in Rockaway Beach, Mo., where she served as a member of the board.

In 2005, they moved to Rowlett, Texas, to be near family. Bill and Sue were strong supporters of the Valiant Knights Drum and Bugle Corps of Enid. She was a very talented cook, enjoyed reading, her dogs, road trips, and most of all just being a mom, grandma and great grandma.

Sue is survived by her husband Bill, of the home, sons Billy B. Shook Jr. and his wife Carmel, of Trenton, Texas; Mark Shook, of Rowlett, Texas, and Jon Shook and his spouse Rey, of Denton, Texas; two grandsons Christopher Shook and his wife Ashley, and Dusty Shook and Kimetra Whitby; three great-granddaughters Gianna, Boston and Aspen; one sister, LaVerna Dezort, of Woodward, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and one aunt, Shirley Gillenwater of Enid, Okla.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials may be given in her honor to the First Church of the Nazarene with Brown-Cummings serving as custodian of the funds.
