Kit Schuelein, 91, former resident of Sand Springs for many years, passed away at his home in Bedford, Texas, on Sunday, July 29, 2012.

One of 10 children of George Schuelein and Hulda (Gottshling) Schue-lein, he was born in Kremlin, Okla., on April 27, 1921. Kit served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He went to work for radio station KRMG in Tulsa after his military service ended. Kit later joined Sheffield Steel Co. in Sand Springs, where he worked until his retirement.

Maxine Hays joined Kit in marriage on Feb. 17, 1945, in Enid, Okla., and they had celebrated over 67 years of marriage prior to his death.

While residing in Sand Springs, Kit and Maxine were active members of St. Andrew Lutheran Church. Survivors include his daughter, Carol Jean Chandler and husband John of Bedford, Texas, and his son, Larry Schuelein and wife Miriam of Spring, Texas; grandchildren, Tami Ramirez and husband Robert and their daughter, Faith; Jef Burrough and wife Marie and their children, Kyler and Sterling; Traci Mann and husband Richard and their children, Trevor and Alyssa, and Jamie Schuelein; many nieces, nephews, other extended family members and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Lucy, Marie, Martha, Esther and Helen; and four brothers, Herman, Fred, Chester and Robert. Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Funeral service will be in the Chapel of Memorial Park Cemetery in North Enid, Okla., at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, 2012. The cemetery is located on Highway 64, just north of Enid.

Services have been entrusted to Mobley-Dodson Funeral Service of Sand Springs, Okla.
