The funeral for Mr. Lonnie R. Schroeder, 67, of Enid, will be 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24, 2014, at First Baptist Church, Enid, with Pastor Kelly Russell and Rev. Keith Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid, under direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. today, Nov. 23, 2014, at the funeral home.

He was born Nov. 4, 1947, to Harold Hiram and Alma (Nickel) Schroeder in Fairview and passed away Nov. 21, 2014, in Enid.

He graduated from Fairview High school in 1966. He attended Southwestern Oklahoma State at Weatherford for four years then started his master’s at Oklahoma State University. He worked for State Farm in Houston, Texas, as an adjuster for two years then returned home, where he worked at OTASCO, before Janzen, in sales.

He married Barbara on Nov. 20, 1976, in Enid; they were married for 38 years.

He owned and operated H&R Block for 12 years and continued to work there. He also owned rental houses, built three spec. homes, and owned and operated Lawn Dog and Pup Lawn Care Service for 15 years.

He was a deacon and on the finance committee at First Baptist Church, where he and Barbara were members for 38 years. He loved his church and taught Sunday school for 18 years. He was a longtime member of Enid Noon AMBUCS.

He loved to attend area basketball games. He also enjoyed four-wheeling and taking trips to Branson, but his truest loves were his family and his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara of the home; his son, Chad and wife Marla Schroeder of Enid; his daughter, Tammie Schroeder Phillips of Charleston, S.C.; his grandchildren, Bryson Schroeder, Brynley Schroeder, Caroline Schroeder, Nathan Phillips and Jordan Phillips; his brother, Robert Schroeder, and sister, Sue Hittle and husband Dick, of the Dallas area; his niece, Debi Meuret; and his nephew, Rick Hittle.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to American Diabetes Association, with Brown-Cummings serving as custodian of the funds. Condolences may be shared with the family at
