The funeral service for Fern Schroeder, 85, of Enid, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Rev. Kenneth Wade will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery . Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

She was born March 17, 1924, northwest of Enid to John and Bessie Turner Swinehart and died Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009, at Greenbrier Nursing Home.

She attended Victor Grade School, Hillsdale High School, graduating in 1941, and Enid Business College.

She married LeRoy H.H. Schroeder in 1953 in Enid and has lived here ever since. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary and Women of the Moose. She worked as a bookkeeper, retiring from Fanning Engineers Inc. in 1986.

She is survived by her son, Terry Schroeder and his wife Peggy of Enid, Okla.; two grandsons, Dustin Schroeder and wife Katie of McKinney, Texas, and Derek Schroeder of Woodward, Okla.; and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, LeRoy; two sisters, Norlene Shoffner and Pauline Swinehart; and three brothers, Forrest J., Glen H. and Jack.

Memorials may be made to the St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
