The funeral for Verna Rae Soliday Schaefer, 81, of Enid, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Bethany United Methodist Church. The Rev. Rose LeRoy will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Henninger-Allen Funeral Home.

She was born Jan. 19, 1926, in Vici to Vernon and Effie Rae Soliday and died Saturday, March 17, 2007, in the Methodist Care Center at the Commons.

She grew up in Vici and Camargo. She later moved to Enid and graduated from Enid High School in 1944 and Enid Business College two years later. She worked for Messer-Bowers Insurance until she married Delmar Louis Schaefer Dec. 28, 1952. They farmed and ranched in the Marshall area, making their home in Enid. She returned to work and retired from Department of Human Services in 1993. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church for over 60 years. She was active in United Methodist Women and Sunday school.

Surviving are two daughters, Debbie Williams of Stillwater and Linda Outhier of Enid; one son, Alan Schaefer of Edmond; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her husband Delmar, one daughter and one brother.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hospice Circle of Love or the Church.
