Funeral services for Gladys E. Rathjen, 90, of Enid, will be Thursday, March 10, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in the Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. Thomas House officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

Gladys was born on November 23, 1925 on the family farm near Carrier, Oklahoma to Herman and Helena Lichtenberg and died March 5, 2016 in Enid.

Gladys grew up in Garfield County and graduated from Lahoma High School in 1943. She later went to Enid Business College. On August 1, 1942, Gladys married Arnold Rathjen in the Zion Lutheran Church in Lahoma. They made their home in Enid. She was an active member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Project Philip and Seasoned Saints. Gladys was a bookkeeper for many years at service stations, working with her husband. She volunteered at Meals on Wheels. Gladys was a blessing to her family as she was a strong woman of faith. Gladys and Arnold celebrated 63 years of marriage before his passing on March 10, 2005.

Gladys was preceded in death by her husband; parents, Herman and Helena Lichtenberg; two brothers, Louis and Gilbert; two sisters, Mildred and Helen.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews, and great great great nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Redeemer Lutheran Church or OMRF- Diabetes.
