A mass of Christian burial for Louis “Bud” Ptacek, age 90, will be held Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at 2:00pm at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. Father Joe Irwin will officiate. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Bud was born on October 14, 1921, to William and Barbara Walta Ptacek and passed away March 9, 2012.

He was born and raised in Hennessey and graduated from Hennessey High School in 1940. He joined the United States Air Force in 1941. He spent 39 months in the South Pacific with the 8th Fighter Patrol Squadron. He was discharged in 1945. Later he served in Korean War in 1950-1951.

On May 18, 1946 he married Bea Stricklin in Caldwell, KS and they made their home in Hennessey until moving to Enid in 1967. In 1947, he worked 20 years for Moore Staufer Co., where he began his grain business career. From 1967-1969, he worked for his wife’s brother at B.L. Harvey Construction Co. In 1970, members of the Bison Co-op board of directors offered Bud a General Manager position for the Bison Co-op and he retired from Co-op in 1992, after 42 years in the grain business.

Bud was inducted to the Oklahoma Grain Dealership Hall of Fame in 1983 and was given a certificate from Oklahoma State University for outstanding leadership in the marketing and processing of grain.

After retirement, Bud and his wife travelled the country for several years, often stopping to talk with farmers along the way.

He was a member of the St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church.

Survivors include his daughter, Gwen Hobbs and husband Dennis of Newalla, OK; two grandsons, Greg Hobbs and wife Susan; Justin Hobbs and wife Ali; one step-grandson, Russell Hobbs and wife Angel; two great-grandsons; four step great-granddaughters; and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 63 years, one sister, and one nephew.

Memorials may be made to the Catholic Pantry with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home as custodian of the funds.

Mass of Christian burial for Beatrice A. Ptacek, 85, will be 2 p.m. Friday, May 22, 2009, at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. The Rev. Larry Kowalski will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

She was born April 11, 1924, in Bison to Claude R. and Agnes Anne Pribil Harvey and died Monday, May 18, 2009, at The Commons Methodist Care Center. She was a 1942 graduate of Hennessey High School. She then lived and worked around Hennessey until she married Fred Strickland. He died in May 1945. She later married Louis “Bud” Ptacek May 18, 1946, in Caldwell, Kan. They made their home in Hennessey. In 1967, they moved to Enid, where she worked eight years for Dr. McCune. She then worked with her husband at Bison Co-op as a bookkeeper, retiring in 1992.

Surviving are her husband, Bud; one daughter, Gwen Hobbs of Newalla; two grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her first husband, Fred, she was preceded in death by two brothers.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hospice Circle of Love.
