June 28, 1868 - June 18, 1944

Proffitt: 75 year old Jerrie W. Proffitt, 527 N. 5rh, died Sunday morning, June 18, 1944 at a local hospital. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Henninger Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery beside his wife who died last September. Rev. L. C. Sinkler and Doctor I. N. Cash officiated at the services.

In 1903 he came to Oklahoma from Kansas and settled at Ingersoll. In 1910 the moved to Aline where he lived until the summer of 1941 when he came to Enid. He was a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors are seven daughters, Mrs. Logan Stephenson of Tulsa, Mrs. Hode Hall of Enid, Mrs. Ray Gordon of Tulsa, Mrs. Robert Helms of Mentone, Texas, Mrs. Robert Weaves of Cleo Springs, Mrs. Sam Booth of Chickasha, Mrs. Ralph Waldi of Little Rock, Oklahoma, and five sons, Murell of Oklahoma City, Donald J. of Long Beach, California, Paul R. of Enid, Fred L. of Carmi, Illinois, Eugene E. of the Army who will be here. He leaves 11 grandchildren and four great – grandchildren. Other survivors are three sisters, Mrs. George Wells of Lyons, Kansas, Mrs. Robert Boright and Mrs. Joe Peterson of Pauls Valley and six brothers, George and Stanley of Oakland, California, Charles of Lyons, Robert of Kansas City, Marion of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Tom of Litchfield, Illinois.
