The funeral service for Marian M. Poplin, age 80, will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 27, 2010, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel, with Albert Hunter officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be a family visitation at the funeral home Sunday evening from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Services are under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

Marian was born in Blackwell to Robert and Marie Haynes Kerss on May 7, 1930, in Enid, and died Thursday, September 23, 2010, in Enid.

She grew up and attended schools in Enid. On May 7, 1948, she married Ivan Poplin in Enid, where they made their home. They had two daughters, Carolyn and Jacquelyn. Besides being a wonderful wife and mother, Marian worked as a stockroom Manager for J.C. Penney for 25 years. She retired to care for her husband, Ivan, who had become ill. After he recovered, she worked as a telephone operator for Lowe’s until her death.

Marian is survived by daughter Carolyn of Enid; sister, Aileene Kerss of Enid; brother and his wife, Joseph Eugene and June Kerss, of Wytheville, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ivan, youngest daughter Jacquelyn, and three brothers, Leroy Dean, Jimmie Dale and Robert Kerss, Jr.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to ASPCA or OMRF – Breast Cancer Division. Condolences may be made online at www.andersonburris.com.
