Funeral services for Joan C. Petersen age 83 of Enid will be 2 pm Saturday July 21, 2012 at the Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Rev. Don Johnson and Rev Lloyd Lambert officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Joan was born March 15, 1929 in Enid to Arthur and Grace (West) Nichols and passed away peacefully July 18, 2012 in St. Mary’s Regional Hospital.

Joan married her best friend Kenneth Petersen, June 1, 1947 and recently celebrated 65 years of marriage.

Joan loved playing piano, working puzzles, and was quite a seamstress, sewing many children’s clothes with her label. She was dedicated to her home and family, loved to cook and host many delicious dinners. She enjoyed playing bridge and is where she met many dear friends.

She thoroughly enjoyed her grandchildren’s sporting activities, attending their games with great support. Her special joy was her great granddaughter Kadri.

Though a charter member of Christ United Methodist, she attended Central Christian Church where she was administrative secretary for more than 30 years. She also planned and helped with weddings.

Preceding her in death are her parents and sisters Betty and Virginia.

Left to celebrate her life are her husband Kenneth, daughter Susan and husband Jerry Kemph of Enid, son Terry and wife Margaret of Portland, Oregon, and grandchildren, Ryan, wife Penny and daughter Kadri of Woodward, Tyler and wife Jennifer of Altus, Jared and fiancée Amanda of Enid, Allison and Meredith Petersen of Portland, Oregon, brother Jerry Nichols, sister Linda Frieden, along with special niece Mary Jo Duncan.

Memorials may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation Diabetes Division with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the fund.

A special thank you to the staff of Greenbrier Nursing Home, where Joan was known for her happy demeanor and bright smile.

A Graveside Service for Kenneth Howard Petersen, age 90, of Enid, is 11:00 am, Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Memorial Park Cemetery with Reverend Vernon Lee officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Kenneth was born October 16, 1927 in Enid to Howard and Alice (Bolenbaugh) Petersen, and passed away peacefully Saturday, March 17, 2018 surrounded by his family. Kenneth married the love of his life, Joan Nichols, June 1, 1947, and they celebrated 65 years of marriage, prior to her passing on July 18, 2012. He retired from George E. Failings in 1991 after 45 years of dedicated service. He and Joan were members of Central Christian Church. Kenneth was active in his grandchildren and great-grandchildrens lives. He took pride in watching them at their various sporting events, traveling to many games. He took his grandchildren on numerous fishing adventures to Lake Texoma, Roman Nose, and many area lakes. Kenneth enjoyed his beautiful yard and was passionate about his flower gardens and watching the birds at his feeders. He also was an avid sports fan and watched OSU and OU sports as well as Thunder Basketball. He was a long-time season ticket holder for Enid Plainsman athletics. Kenneth and Joan spoiled their children and enriched their lives with the love of God, love of family, and encouraged them to do their best, to have a positive attitude, and to be thankful for all Gods blessings.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Alice Petersen; and his wife Joan Petersen.

Those left to cherish Kenneths memory are his children, daughter Susan Kemph and husband Jerry, of Enid; son, Terry Petersen and wife Margaret, of Portland, Oregon; five grandchildren, Ryan Kemph and wife Penny, of Fort Supply, Oklahoma; Tyler Kemph and wife Jennifer, of Altus, Oklahoma; Jared Kemph and wife Amanda, of Enid, Oklahoma; Allison Petersen and fiancé Josh, of Beaverton, Oregon; Meredith Lococo and husband Johnny, of San Diego, California; and seven great-grandchildren, that he adored. He also leaves a brother, DeWayne Petersen, of Missouri; sister, Beverly, of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Memorials in Kenneths name may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation Heart Division with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
