SAND SPRINGS, OK — Peterman, Sara Leona, 94, died Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at Green Tree Assisted Living, Sand Springs, Okla. Leona was born in Snyder, Okla., on Jan. 7, 1920, to John C. Haley and Sara Francis (Register) Haley.

Leona or “Pete,” as some knew her, was a lady way ahead of her time and thoroughly enjoyed Life. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Enid.

She graduated from college and taught school for 15 years at Harrison and Eisenhower schools in Enid. Leona retired from her love of teaching children in 1985.

Leona is survived by three grandchildren, Corkey Peterman, Brian Peterman and Tammy Raleigh. She also has three nephews, Calvin, Wade and Kent Haley; three nieces, Carolyn Born, Pat Irwin and Judi Haley; and many other extended family members.

Leona was preceded in death by her mother and father; son, Larry Peterman; three brothers, James, Calvin and Joe Haley; and one granddaughter, Robin Peterman.

Visitation will be l0 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Moore’s Southlawn Chapel, 9350 East 51 Street, Tulsa, OK.

A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2014, in Memorial Park Cemetery at the Garden Chapel, Enid, Okla., for family and friends.
