Benton Allen Patzkowski, loving husband, father, brother, grandpa, papa, uncle and friend, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014. Benton was born in Homestead, Okla., on Jan. 9, 1928, to Jacob and Vera Patzkowski.

He graduated from Fairview High School in 1946.

Benton worked on the family farm until being drafted into the U.S. Army. During his military service, he served in the Korean Conflict. Upon his honorable discharge, his rank was corporal. He received the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Stars and the U.N. Service Medal.

He attended and graduated from Enid Business College.

Benton married Naomi Boschult on June 17, 1955, in Enid, Okla.

He was vice-president of Fairview State Bank and was a counselor for Consumer Credit Counseling Services. He served as treasurer of Northwest Oklahoma District for the Church of the Nazarene, was on the district Sunday school board, district Sunday school treasurer, and served on the district finance committee.

As a member at Cedar Springs Nazarene Church, Benton served on the church advisory board and was church treasurer, Sunday School superintendent and teacher, Men’s Fellowship director, and earned their Distinguished Service Award.

Benton was an active member of the Enid YMCA and received the Outstanding Fundraiser Award and the Extra Mile Award. Benton also volunteered at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Alice Patzkowski; grandson, Nathaniel Patzkowski; brother, Maurice Patzkowski; brother-in-law, Bill Moore; and sister-in-law, Wanda Patzkowski.

Benton is survived by his wife, Naomi; daughter, Kathy Haney of Mustang; son, Mark Patzkowski and wife Rebekah of Oklahoma City; son, Randall Patzkowski and wife Cami of Frisco, Texas; sister, Lois Moore of Colorado Springs, Colo.; brother, Bryan Patzkowski of Altus, Okla.; grandchildren, Kevin and Kandi Haney, Kristen Haney, Julia Patzkowski, Gracie, Landry and Sawyer Cate Patzkowski; great-grandchildren, Kylea, Kynzi and Keeli Haney; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation with the family is 6:30-7:30 p.m. today, Nov. 12, 2014, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at First Church of the Nazarene, Enid.

Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid, immediately following under the direction of Anderson Burris Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Denny Price Family YMCA of Enid or Gideons International.
