MRS. WILFRED E. POWELL
Funeral services for Mrs. Wilfred E. Powell will be conducted at 2 p. m. Wednesday in the University Place Church with Dr. Dyre Campbell and Dr. G. Edwin Osborn officiating. The body will lie in state at the Henninger-Allen funeral home preceding the funeral. Burial will be in the Memorial Park cemetery.
Mrs. Powell, wife of a longtime Bible professor at Phillips University, died in a local hospital Monday after a brief but serious illness.
Mrs. Powell came to Oklahoma with her family in 1899. The family settled first on a farm near Cleo Springs and moved in 1909 to Hennessey, where Mrs. Powell was married in 1917 to Dr. Powell, a New Zealand native who graduated from Phillips University in 1919 and joined the Phillips' faculty.
Mrs. Powell was a member of University Place Christian church and taught Sunday school in the children's department for many years.
She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Miss Margaret Powell, Denver; Miss Evelyn Powell, Detroit; and Mrs. Reo E. Nicar, Enid; three brothers, William A. Lemon, Clinton; John B. Lemon, Monrovia, California, and Frank C. Lemon, Manhattan, Kansas; two sisters, Mrs. Joe F. Gibson, Clinton; and Mrs. Willard Schwartz, Manhattan, Kansas.
