Elma Jewel Moore

The funeral for Elma Jewel Moore, 87, of Enid, will be 2 p.m. Thursday, at Central Christian Church. The Revs. John McLemore and Don Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrange-ments are by Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

She was born June 15, 1920, in Stonewall to Clar-ence and Rae Beaty and died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, at Golden Oaks Nursing Center. She was raised and educated in Enid, graduating from Enid High School in 1938. She then attended Phillips University. She married Byron Lowell Moore Jan. 5, 1941, in Enid. She was a charter member of University Place Christian Church, where she taught Sunday school, served as CWF president and was an elder.

She was a lifelong lay leader in the Disciples of Christ Christian Church and was a member of Central Christian Church, where she participated in Sooner Sunday school class. She also served as Cub Scout den mother and multiple terms as PTA president.

Surviving are three sons, Keith of Indianapolis, Ind., Monty of Enid and Craig of Hobart; one daughter, Marilyn King of Bartlesville; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Byron, and one brother.
