The Funeral service for Sandra Kay Slaton Stowers McLain will be held April 14th, 2012 at l0:00 AM in the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Garry Vincent officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Sandy started life in Jacksonville, Texas on March 12, 1948. Her parents were Irene Malzahn Slaton and Vernon Charles Slaton Jr. Her dad was in the Air Force and they lived in many places, Texas, Oklahoma, Virginia, Ohio, Puerto Rico, and Maine, before coming back to Oklahoma.

She started high school in Presque, Maine then attended Perry High School the first five months of 1964. She then went to Enid High School and graduated in 1966.

She received her Teaching degree at Phillips University. Ray Stowers and Sandy were married from 1969 till 1989. They lived in Kansas City, Tulsa and Medford and had three wonderful children, Jenny, Renee, and Mark.

While living in Medford she was an English teacher and a Girl Scout leader. She earned her Theologian Degree in 1992 and was a Methodist Minister in Billings, Burns Flat, and Dill City.

In 1995 she married Ed McLain and lived in Dell City then moved back to Enid to care for her mother. The last few years she had been living at the Highland Park Manor due to health issues. She enjoyed all of the people there and was so grateful for all their loving care.

She enjoyed reading, playing dominoes, and attending church services and spending time with her family and friends.

Sandy will be missed. Sandy went to be with her Heavenly Father on April 11, 2012.

Sandy is survived by her brother Chuck Slaton and wife Virginia of Perry, OK, two daughters Jennifer Stowers of Middlesboro, KY, and Renee Stowers Throckmorton and husband Chad of Drummond, OK, and son Mark Stowers and wife Angela of Tecumseh, OK, five grandchildren Jaycee Throckmorton of Harrogate, TN, Dillon Throckmorton and Hayden Throckmorton of Drummond, OK, and Dustin Stowers of Tecumseh, OK, and Brandon Cunningham and wife Amanda of Moore, OK and one great grandson, Elijah of Moore OK.; a niece and a nephew and five great nephews and three great nieces, cousins, and many friends.

Memorials in her name may be made to Highland Park Manor with Brown-Cummings Serving as custodian of the funds.

She was preceded in death by both her parents and her husband Ed McLain.
