Laverne Gains Luckinbill McIntosh

Funeral services for LaVerne McIntosh Luckinbill, 86, of Enid, will be 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5, 2007, at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Rev. Wade Burleson and Rev. C. Mack Roark will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Marjorie LaVerne Gaines was born Aug. 24, 1920, in Blackwell, Texas, and died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007, in Enid.

She was raised in Bronte, Texas, where she graduated from high school in 1938. She and Raymond Lewis McIntosh were married on Aug. 28, 1944, in Houston, Texas. They moved to Enid in 1945 and operated McIntosh Used Cars until retirement in 1987. LaVerne and Raymond were married 47 years until his death in 1991.

On April 22, 1997, LaVerne married Orville William Luckinbill. They were married 18 months until his death in 1999.

As a young bride, LaVerne moved to Enid from Oakridge, Tenn. After the birth of her children she was active in PTA, and served as a Scout leader and Blue Bird leader. LaVerne was a charter member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, serving as a volunteer in countless committees and organizations. She was also a volunteer at Integris Bass since 1991 and 2nd Past President of the Volunteers. She was an active member of Gideons auxiliary.

She loved to read, travel, and spend time with friends and family.

She is survived by one sister, Billie Peevey of Abilene, Texas; one son, Roland McIntosh and wife Janie of McAllen, Texas; one daughter, Beverly Morgan of Enid; a stepson, Dennis Luckinbill and wife Anna Sue of Enid; and a stepdaughter, Anna Beth Smith and husband Vince of Houston, Texas; four grandsons, Matt Davis of Enid, Thad Luckinbill of Studio City, Calif. and Trent Luckinbill of Washington, D.C., and Grant Smith and wife Amy of Dallas, Texas; three granddaughters, Julianne Cantwell and husband Joel of Dallas, Texas, Deanna Gibson and husband Robert of Edmond, and Susan Miller and husband Trevor of Enid; and 11 great-grandchildren.

LaVerne was also preceded in death by her parents, Rupert Jackson and Anna Pearl Gaines; and two brothers, Jim and Wendell Gaines.

The family would like to request that any donations be made to Gideons International with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home as custodian of the funds.
