OBITUARY

John K. McFAGGEN

Funeral service for John K. McFaggen, 101-year-old Enid resident, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at Central Christian Church. The Revs. John McLemore and Don Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. John was born May 29, 1910, in Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Ark., to Sandy and Bessie McFaggen and passed away Friday, March 23, 2012, at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center.

John attended Fort Smith High School through the 10th grade. He started working in coal mines in Arkansas in 1926, at age 16. He worked in copper mines in Bisbee, Ariz., from 1928 to 1936. He started working at Auto-Lite Battery Co. in Oklahoma City in 1936. He served in the U.S. Navy from March 1941 to November 1945, as an electrician aboard the aircraft carrier Saratoga. After his service in the Navy, he returned to Auto-Lite, where he retired in 1972 as chief inspector. John married Hazel Marie King in 1946. After retiring, they moved to Fort Gibson Lake, where they both liked to fish. They also liked to take their boat to various lakes so their grandkids could water ski.

They moved to Enid in 1976. John was a member of Central Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, his wife Hazel, stepdaughter Virginia Witty, and stepgranddaughter Vicki Witty Robinson.

He is survived by stepson-in-law, Tom Witty of Grove, Okla.; stepgrandsons, Gary Witty of Tulsa, Okla., and David Witty of Lees Summit, Mo.; stepgrandson-in-law, Mitch Robinson and wife Rosie of Cedar Falls, Iowa; stepgreat-grandchildren, Christie Peters and husband Lucas of Altoona, Iowa, Brandi Aleman and husband Oni of Chanhassan, Minn., Vanessa McFarland and husband Chris of Waterloo, Iowa, Jade Crawford and husband Jay of Tulsa, Okla., Sean Robinson of Austin, Texas, Zach Witty of Victorville, Calif., and Tori Witty of Lees Summit, Mo.; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Central Christian Church Caregivers.
