A graveside service for Robert "Bobby" D. McDowell, 70, of Willis, Texas, will be 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 6, 2008, in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Wade Burleson will officiate. Arrangements are by Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. He was born Feb. 28, 1938, in Licking, Mo., to Robert Pearl and Mabel Willhite McDowell and died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, in Oklahoma City.

He grew up in Bakersville, Calif. He married Adella Nichols July 29, 1977, in Las Vegas. He played baseball in college, in the Navy and with the Phillies organization. He was in the Naval Reserves. He lived in Oklahoma City until 1991, then moved to the Houston area. He worked for Chevron as a senior drilling representative the past 16 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Willis. They moved back to Oklahoma City in 2008.

Surviving are his wife, Adella of the home; four daughters, Anne Owens of Red Bluff, Calif., Crystal McDowell of Tulsa, Christine Goodman of Boston and Kathleen Noon of Lindenhurst, Ill.; four sons, Steve McDowell of Temecula, Calif., Jeff McDowell of Bakersville, Calif., Darren McDowell of San Francisco, Colo., and Loren McDowell of Stuart; one brother, Melvin McDowell of Bakersville; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother.
