Funeral services for Dr. George Ivan McBride, 84, will be at 2 PM on Monday in the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Melana Scruggs officiating. The burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Henninger – Allen Funeral Home. Dr. McBride died late Thursday afternoon in a local nursing home following an extended illness.

He was born on a farm South of McPherson, Kansas, April 21, 1904 the son of John and Lillie Griffin McBride. Following his graduation from McPherson High School in 1924 he attended the Western Dental College at Kansas City, Missouri and earned a doctor of dental surgeon degree in 1928.

Dr. McBride moved to Enid in 1928 and established a dental office. He did post graduate work in oral surgery at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois in 1941.

He married the former Miss Lois E. Jones in the First Presbyterian Church on February 10, 1943. Prior to retirement in March 1980 he was the oldest Tenant of the American Standard Life Center, South, formerly the Bass Building.

Dr. McBride was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, The Garfield County Dental Association, Northwest District Oklahoma Dental Society and the Academy of General Dentistry. He was a life member of the Oklahoma Dental Association, American Dental Association and the University of Missouri Alumni.

Dr. McBride was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include: wife, Lois E., of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Ann) Gray, Asheville, North Carolina and Marylyn McBride, Enid; two grandsons, Bradford and Matthew Gray, Asheville, North Carolina, one brother, Wilbur A. McBride, San Diego, California.

Members of the Garfield County Dental Society will be seated as honorary pallbearers.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the church or to a charity of the donors choice.
