Sandra Susan Martin was born Jan. 24, 1942, in Houston, Texas, to George Edward Tappan Sr. and Loretta May (Pray) Tappan.

She passed away on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015, at Rebold Manor in Okmulgee, Okla., at 73 years of age.

Sandra moved with her family, as a child, to Enid, Okla.

She later moved to Okmulgee where she raised her family.

Sandra again returned to Enid in the 1980s, when she worked at Enid State School, but returned to Okmulgee in 1994, to retire and be near her family.

She was a member of Second Baptist Church and Sandra frequently made visits to people living in nursing homes.

She loved to fish and also enjoyed skeet-shooting, bingo, crossword puzzles, dominos, canasta and watching sports.

She was well-known for ringing her cow bell while attending her children’s and grand-children’s ball games.

She was preceded in death by her father, George Edward Tappan Sr.; mother, Loretta May Cabaniss; stepfather, Bill Cabaniss; and an infant daughter, Lori Sue Martin.

Survivors include her sons, David Martin and wife Dana of Okmulgee and Bill Martin and wife Marilyn of McMinnville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Michael Martin and wife Carrie, John Martin and wife Krystal and Sarah Martin, all of Okmulgee, Stewart Martin of Smithville, Tenn., and Allison Martin of Oklahoma City; brother, George Tappan Jr.; eight great-grandchildren; and very special friends, Joyce Lee Stevens of Enid, Donna McDaniel of Okmulgee and Glenn and Mary Lou Campbell of Okmulgee.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel, Okmulgee, with Dr. Dennis Taylor officiating.

A committal service will be 2:30 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Enid.

Friends may visit the funeral home from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26.
