Elizabeth Ann Lix (Libby)

June 24, 1949 - July 28, 2020

The celebration of life service for Elizabeth A. Lix, age 71, of Enid, will be 10am Monday August 3, 2020, at Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Dr. Andrew Philip Long officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Libby was born in Lincoln, Nebraska to mother Ruth P. Locke and father John L. Hyre on June 24, 1949, and died at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City on July 28, 2020. She grew up in Lincoln, NE, St. Joe, MO, Amarillo TX, and Wichita, KS. She graduated from Wichita West High School in 1968. In 1972 she graduated from Friends University with a B.S. in Home Economics Education. She married John S. Erickson and they had two children, Chris & Kim. She worked as a home economics teacher at Andale High School and substituted in the Wichita school district. She also worked as a microwave oven demonstrator for GE, teaching people how to use the newly popular appliance.

In 1983, Libby moved to Edmond, OK and raised her two children while working in pharmacy sales for McKesson. Libby met Terry Lix of Enid and they were married in July of 1987. They celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary shortly before her death. After moving to Enid, she was able to be a worker at home and lovingly served her family and friends. She was always ready to help someone in need and serve them with compassion. Libby cared for her mother Ruth during a lengthy illness, at the same time caring for Kim's infant son while Kim pursued her college degree. She was so proud of Chris's creativity and success as a business owner, and loved encouraging him.

When Libby's brother Robert was diagnosed with cancer, she spent many months caring for him until his death. She enjoyed supporting her children and grandchildren in all of their activities. Libby loved spending time with her family. She was a member of Enid Newcomers Club and AMBUCS.

Libby is survived by her husband, Terry Lix of Enid; her son, Chris Erickson of Enid; her daughter and husband, Kim & Mark Thompson of Hunter; her grandsons Gabe & Jett, and her granddaughters Peyton & Addison; her brothers, Phillip & wife Jackie Hyre of Derby, KS; Richard & wife Nina Hyre of Fort Worth, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John & Ruth Hyre, her brother Robert Hyre, and his wife Carolyn.

Memorials may be made to Journey House Pregnancy Resource Center and Hospice Circle of Love.
