ENID — A funeral service for Florence Leavengood, 88, will be Monday, June 27, 2011, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, with Rev. Scott Whittenburg officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Anderson - Burris Funeral Home.

Florence was born to J.C. and Sophia (Stettnisch) Leavengood on December 9, 1922, southeast of Enid, and died Thursday, June 23, 2011, in Enid.

Florence graduated from Pioneer High School in 1941. In the mid-1940s, she went to work at Marrs Grocery Plant as a candymaker. Florence went to work at Asfahl Dress Company as a dressmaker in 1960. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where she was a lifetime member. Florence taught Sunday School for many years. She was a member of Red Hat Ladies and Enid Senior Center. She was very crafty and enjoyed volunteering.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, one sister and niece Betty McHenry.

Florence is survived by her nieces, Virginia (Ted) Loesch of Fairmont and Connie Hunter (Losco) of Stillwater; nephews, Tom Leavengood, Dennis Leavengood and Rick (Jo) Leavengood, all of Enid, and Larry (Pam) Leavengood of Fairmont; and numerous great- and great-great nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Enid Senior Center or St. Paul's Lutheran School. Condolences online at www.andersonburris.com.
