The funeral for J.R. Leachman, 69, of Enid, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2009, at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. Family visitation will be 7:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2009, at the funeral home. He was born Dec. 13, 1939, in Woodward to Thad and Muriel Steele Leachman and died Monday, May 18, 2009, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. He graduated from Enid High School in 1958. He served in the Army for four years and then served in the Air Force. He lived at Homestead Air Force Base in Florida until he moved back to Oklahoma in 1968.

He married Esther Stoll in 1973 at Redeemer Lutheran Church. He worked for Dean Pearson Dodge before moving to Tulsa to work for Central Oklahoma Freight Lines as a diesel mechanic, retiring in 1981. He had worked the past two years as a part-time driver for Car-Mart. He was a member of Christian Motorcycle Association, where he served as state representative. He also was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Esther, of the home; four children, Randy Leachman of Missoula, Mont., Scott Leachman of Norman, and Todd Leachman and Deirdre Butler, both of Enid; one sister, Eloise Bleakley of Enid; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
