July 11, 1923 - November 25, 2018

Geraldine Mae"Jerry" Lay, loving grandmother, sister and aunt, passed away in peace at the age of 95 on Sunday, November 25, 2018, in Enid.

Jerry, the oldest of five children, was born in Enid to Monroe and Jennie (Campbell) Carter.

Jerry graduated from Enid High School and began her career as a bookkeeper at Armour Creameries, Herzberg's Department Store, Gold Spot Dairy, and several accounting firms.

Jerry spent the most significant part of her professional career at Haresh Muni CPA, Inc. Jerry was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church of Enid.

In 1955, Geraldine Carter married Roy Lay, a carpenter and cabinet maker from Enid. Together Jerry and Roy sponsored American Legion baseball and enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, hunting and training bird dogs.

Always with a kind word, warm smile and hug, Jerry loved to laugh and enjoyed swapping stories of her and Roy's many adventures.

After Roy's death, Jerry enjoyed traveling with friends and relatives. She took several road trips and cruises that she remembered fondly. She was an accomplished bowler.

Jerry was preceded in death by her husband Roy; step-son Mike Lay; brothers, Romaine, Monroe "Monty," and Jack.

She is survived by her granddaughter, Susan Lay Petersmith and family, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; her sister, Carrie Miller and family, of Norman; sister-in-law, Betty Carter and family of Elloree, South Carolina; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express our heart-felt thanks to Jerry Williams, caregiver and friend during Jerry's twilight years.

Family, friends, and loved ones whose lives Jerry touched are invited to a Graveside Service at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 30, 2018, Memorial Park Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jerry's name to The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.

Condolences may be made at www.LadusauEvans.com.
