ENID, OK - The funeral service for Melvin W. Lawrenz Sr. age 88, of Enid, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday August 14, 2013, at St. Paul?s Lutheran Church with Pastor Scott Whittenburg and Pastor Kenneth Wade officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Melvin was born March 16, 1925, in Okarche, OK, to Richard and Frances (Gleichman) Lawrenz and passed away Sunday, August 11, 2013, at his home.

Melvin graduated from Piedmont High School in 1943. He entered the U.S. Navy in March, 1944, and served as a Boson's Mate during WWII and was honorably discharged in April 1946. On February 25, 1950, he married Margaret Poplin in Enid.

In 1948, he moved to Enid and worked as a Catalyst Operator at Champlin Refinery for 34 years, retiring in 1983. After retirement, he managed several rental properties and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Melvin was a longtime active member of St. Paul?s Lutheran Church.

He is survived by wife, Margaret; son, Melvin (Crystal) Lawrenz Jr.; daughters, Vicky Lecinski, Melva (Ken) Glaser, Diane Lawrenz, and Wendy (Tony) Myers; 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
