Funeral for Sydney “Syd” Kusch will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Syd was born June 14, 1920, in Fairview, to Jake Charles and Martha (Schultz) Kusch and died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, in Enid.

He married Vera Bakewell Aug. 19, 1944. Syd worked as an aircraft mechanic at Vance Air Force Base until his retirement in 1987. He was a 32nd degree Mason.

Surviving are wife, Vera; daughters, Carol Mathews and Karen Parker; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral service for Vera Elizabeth Kusch will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Henninger~Hinson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Steve Williams and Everett Ohls officiating. Burial will follow the service in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Vera was born February 20, 1923, one of eleven children, to Fred and Hilda (Wiggins) Bakewell in Leicester, England and passed away December 15, 2017 in Enid. She worked as a metal lathe operator in a gun factory during World War II. On August 19, 1944, she married Sydney Syd Kusch in England. Soon after the couple moved to Fairview and in 1956, the couple moved to Enid where Vera worked as a nurses aide at the Enid General Hospital. Vera was very proud that she and Syd were married for 68 years until his passing in 2012. Vera was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church and was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.

Vera is survived by her daughters, Carol Mathews and husband, Dan of Enid; Karen Parker and husband, David of Carson, CA; grandchildren, Kevin and Shea Mathews; Kim and James Swasho; Jeff and Molly Parker and Elizabeth and Jerrod Rickard; great-grandchildren, Ashley Swasho; Derrick Swasho; Meeghan Mathews; Emma Parker; Dalton Parker and Darla Parker; great-great-grandchildren, Jaelynn Swasho and Jubilee Gonzales and numerus nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and all ten of her siblings.
