The services celebrating and honoring the life of Ethel JoAnn Ott Knotter, 93, of Enid, will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday November 19, 2020 in the Memorial Park Cemetery with pastor Gary Lilly officiating. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
She was born September 20, 1927 to Joseph Emil and Ethel Catherine Moulden Ott in Enid, Oklahoma and passed from this life November 15, 2020 in Enid, Oklahoma.
She was raised and educated in Enid graduating from Enid High School with the class of 1944. She attended Enid Business College. JoAnn met Charles Hubert Knotter after he came home from WWII. She was working in the old Stanford Stunkle drug store serving ice cream. The couple was married August 10, 1949 in Enid, Oklahoma; soon after they moved to Kansas where he worked for a farmer. They then moved back to Oklahoma and lived briefly in Nash on the farm with her sister and brother in law before moving to Enid where they settled. She managed their rental properties and with her husband flipped houses. She enjoyed camping, finding bargains at thrift stores, canning, but most of all she enjoyed being a bonus mom to her nieces and nephews who all called her Auntie. She loved animals. When she was younger she raised rabbits and she loved her dogs. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was very bright with a quick wit.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Charlotte Bowen (JC), Joe Waggoner (Darlene), Dean Kuykendall, Herbert Kuykendall, Orvella Blocklinger, and Ethel Hoppis (Jerry). She is also survived by her sister-in-law Eddith Ott and a large number of great and great great nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Jean Kuykendall and Dean Ott.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Our Daily Bread where she made many friends later in life. The family would like to thank Greenbrier Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing for their love and care and the staff of St. Mary's 4 Main for the care they gave her and the family in her brief illness. They also request that masks and proper distancing be observed as a service to others.
