The funeral services celebrating the life of Zarilyn “Zee” Nelson Keck, M.H.R., C.A.D.A.C., 77, of Enid, will be held 3:00 P.M. Wednesday October 4, 2017 in the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gary Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

She was born December 19, 1939 to John and Mildred Watts Nelson in Sayre, Oklahoma, and passed from this life on September 29, 2017 in Enid, Oklahoma.

She was raised in Woodward and then moved to Cherokee where she graduated High School in 1958. She then attended the University of Missouri receiving her certification as a Dental Hygienist. She returned to Enid and married Ronnie Wedel in 1962 and from this union came two sons. She worked as a Dental Hygienist for over 20 years. She returned to college and received her Bachelors of arts degree from Southern Nazarene University in 1984. In 1995 she developed and built five homes on Wellington Street in Enid. She then attended The University of Oklahoma receiving her Master’s Degree in Human Relations in 1999. She worked as a counselor in a private practice and the Parental Counseling Group, Hope Outreach, and Crabtree Correctional Center, retiring in 2004. She built her current home on her grandfather’s homestead, west of Enid. She enjoyed raising and riding horses, fishing, and building decorative shelves in her work shop.

She is survived by her son Derek and his wife Rebecca “Becca” Wedel of Enid, brother, Zan Nelson of Bethany, Oklahoma, one granddaughter, Mallory Parker, great granddaughter, two nieces, and one nephew, her caretaker and special friend Harold Crawford, and her lifelong friend, Terry Brand Crenshaw of Russell, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Randy Wedel, and her beloved pug “Tooter”.
