Even Our Quietest Sounds Make Noise Wanda Faye Harrison Hyland passed away on November 11, 2017. Over her almost 94 years, she did what she could, in both small and large ways, to be there for others. Born in Conway Springs, Kansas, to John Z and Caroline E (Callaway) Harrison on November 18, 1923, Wanda moved with her family to Oklahoma as a young girl.

She served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and married Gerald Joseph Hyland on September 14, 1949. She is survived by her three children, Lawrence A Hyland, Faye A Shea, and John J Hyland, as well as her much loved five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Wanda lived in California for the majority of her working life, but her heart was always in Oklahoma. She returned there after she retired from the telephone company in 1988 to help care for her mother and remained there until the last few years of her life.

Wanda loved attending plays, watching sports, playing canasta, and crocheting. She was living in Reno, Nevada, at the time of her passing. If you wish to acknowledge her passing, make a small gesture of kindness to a fellow human being: give a friend a flower, smile at a stranger, volunteer your time. Try to make a difference in some small or large way to make someone's life a little better - just like she did. We would love to hear what her life inspired you to do in her memory. Condolences and memories can be sent to fayeshea816@gmail.com.

We will miss her ready laughter. She lives on in our hearts

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 31, 2018, in the Mausoleum at Memorial Park Cemetery, 6405 Memorial Drive, Enid, Oklahoma.
