April 21, 1937-February 3, 2018

A celebration of life for Sonja L. Hyke, age 80, of Enid, is 2:00 pm, Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Oakwood Christian Church with Rev Alan Siebel officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8 on Tuesday, February 6, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Sonja was born at home in Goltry, Ok to William and Reta Thompson and passed away peacefully Saturday at her home in Enid. She was raised in Goltry before heading to California where she met her life long partner. She and Ed Hyke were married in Las Vegas on July 1, 1957.

Sonja was greatly loved by those who knew her. Some of her favorite friends were her church family, card playing family, her neighbors, and cant forget her fun dog park family. Sonja was known for her sweet and caring spirit. She was always surprised as to how many people loved her. One of her grandchildren said it best-she lived out the life of a humble servant. Just like her savior, she simply loved others.

She especially loved her family both deeply and unconditionally. She is survived by her son, Steve Hyke and fiancé Chasity of Enid, her daughter Robbin McKinzie and husband Dennis of Enid, and daughter Lora Spangrud and husband Scott of St Cloud, Minn. eight grandchildren; Ashley Henning, Stacy Hyke, Colby Mckinzie, Shane Mckinzie, Beau Mckinzie, Amiee Spangrud, Nathan Spangrud, and Sara Spangrud, and eight great grandchildren. She was greeted in heaven by many special people as her husband, mother and father, 9 brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, and many friends all preceded her in death. As her family is grateful for her complete joy in heaven, she will be desperately missed on earth till one day soon we will see her again.

Memorials in Sonjas name may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.

Condolences may be made and services viewed online at www.ladusauevans.com.
