Funeral Set For Veteran Enid Printer

Funeral services for William H. Humphries, 61, longtime printer for the Enid Publishing Company, will be at 3 PM Tuesday in the Henninger – Allen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Leslie G. Everitt officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Henninger – Allen.

He died Saturday morning in an Oklahoma City hospital where he had been for the past seven weeks.

Born September 22, 1912 at Grenada, Mississippi, he spent his early childhood in Lawton and Enid, attending school here and graduating 1931. He attended Enid Business College and in 1933 married the former Marguerite Miller at Tulsa. They established their home in Oklahoma City where he began his printing career with the Oklahoma Publishing Company.

He served with the field artillery during World War I I and then returned to Enid where he was employed by the Enid Publishing Company. He worked for the "News & Eagle" for some 28 years until he retired last January duty his health.

Survivors include his wife Marguerite of the home, 1525 Kaw; a daughter Mrs. Stephen (Merilyn) Fish, Highland, California; a son Bill Humphries, Shawnee Mission, Kansas; six grandchildren; a sister Mrs. Jack Whitelock, Tulsa, and a brother James E Humphries, Oklahoma City.
