Graveside services for Douglas Edward Hughes, 61, who formerly lived at 115 E. Oak, will be 2 PM today in Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Harold Morgan officiating. Burial will be by Henninger – Allen Funeral Home.

He died Tuesday in Garber following a short illness.

Mr. Hughes was born in Morganfield, Kentucky, and attended school in Henderson, Kentucky. He moved from Henderson to Evansville, Indiana, in 1952 and stayed there until 1955 when he moved to Hawthorne, California, where he was employed by the Hughes Aircraft Corp. In 1958, he came to Enid and worked as a bartender at Polly and Peggy Café and Chuck's Place.

He served with the First Armored Division from 1940 to 1946.

Surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Lorain Calvert of Shawneetown, Illinois, Mrs. Jennie Davidson of Evansville, Indiana, Mrs. Dorothy Gaines of Henderson, Kentucky, and Mrs. Robert (Marie) Johns of Benton, Kentucky; two brothers, Augrey Hughes of Daytona Beach, Florida, and Otis Hughes of Sebree, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews including Robert Gaines of Garber.
