Captain Arthur HUENERGARDT

The funeral for Capt. Arthur Huenergardt, 95, formerly of Enid will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel. Steve Driskell, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors.

He was born July 25, 1913, in Hillsboro, Kan. to George and Mary Dies Huenergardt and died Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at Clinton Veterans Center, Clinton.

The family moved to Oklahoma in 1919. In 1937, he moved to California and enlisted in the Army, serving his early years in Hawaii. During World War II, he served in North Africa, France and Germany. During the Korean War, he served in the Army of Occupation in Germany. He retired from the Army in April 1960. He then worked in the appliance repair and auto repair business. He married Helen Thompson in 1940, in Reno, Nev. She died in Jan. 1985. He married Marie Autry in 1986. They made their home in Enid until March, 2003, when they moved to Fairview Fellowship Home. She died in 2007. He was a member of Davis Park Christian Church, serving as deacon and elder, then Canton Christian Church. He was also a member of the American Legion and Retired Military Officers Association.

Surviving are one step-son, Tom Autry of Watonga; two half-sisters, Betty Berg of Eugene, Ore. and Nadine Ware of Norman; two half-brothers, Harold of Amarillo, Texas and Roy Lee of Eugene, Ore; four step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. In addition to his two wives, Helen and Marie, he was preceded in death by one step-son, two sisters, two brothers, one half-brother, and one half-sister.
