Graveside services for Taylor Earl Horton, age 90, of Enid will be held Sunday at 2 PM in Memorial Park Cemetery with pastor Don Theis of Faith Baptist Church officiating. Services are under the direction of the Anderson – King Funeral Home. Mr. Horton died April 1, 1993.

Mr. Horton was born October 25, 1902 in a little sod house on the land his father homesteaded during the opening of the Cherokee Strip in 1893 to Jesse and Bertha Warner Horton. On May 17, 1924 he married Berdie Bonard. Born to this union were two daughters, Wanda Lea and Bonnie June.

Taylor Earl Horton was a man of honesty and integrity. He was a faithful companion, a loving father, and a good neighbor. During the Great Depression he was a mechanic in Mr. Yumans Garage in Salt Fork. In 1935 he returned to the farm and raised wheat and cattle. He was a great horseman. At the age of 70 he made a 100 mile trail ride on his horse, Star. He moved to Enid in 1946.

Mr. Horton is survived by two daughters: Wanda Lea Scherer of Portsmouth, Ohio and Bonnie June McDaniels of Derby, Kansas; one sister: Rubie Critchlow of Enid, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren: Mike, Ted, Susan, Judy, Chris, Curtis, David, Danny and Cathy; and 12 great – grandchildren: Shannon, Erin, Derek, Travis, Matthew, Samantha, Jason, Katie, Steven, Laura, Genny, and Annie. He is preceded in death by his wife, Birdie; two brothers: Wilbur and Floyd Horton; one sister, Velma; and one grandson, Steve Lee, Guthrie.

The family will be at the funeral home Saturday from 6 to 8 PM for visitation.
