Ponca City – John L. (Roy) Horner, 84, died Wednesday in a Ponca City hospital. His service will be at 11 AM Friday in the Community Christian Church at Ponca City with Dr. Don Parsons officiating. Burial will be in Enid Memorial Park Cemetery at 2 PM Friday under the direction of E. M. Trout and Sons Funeral Home, Ponca City.

Horner was born July 7, 1894, at McCune, Kansas, and married Eula James January 2, 1918. The couple lived near Hillsdale and moved to Hunter in 1935. In 1947, they moved to Garber and in 1972 to Ponca City. He was a retired farmer, veteran of World War I, serving with the United States Army, and a member of the Community Christian Church at Ponca City.

Survivors include his wife, Eula; two sons, Marion, Colonial Heights, Virginia, and Don, Ponca City; one daughter, Verna Henson, Las Vegas, Nevada; nine grandchildren; 10 great – grandchildren; four sisters, Marie Meyer, Enid, Mildred Bengtson, Oklahoma City, Melva Bergman, Hunter, and Maude White, Enid; and one brother, Phillip, Enid.

He was preceded in death by one brother.

Memorials may be made to the Community Christian Church, Ponca City, with the church serving as custodian of the fund.
