The funeral service for William J. “Joe” Hopkins, Jr., 50, of Hunter will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Marvin Goodpasture will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

He was born June 3, 1957, in Great Bend, Kan., to William J. Sr. and Phyllis Rankin Hopkins and died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, in Integris Bass Baptist Hospital.

He attended school in Great Bend then joined the Army. He married Tina Purcell Nov. 30, 1984, in Great Bend. They moved to Hunter in 2001. He constructed golf courses, with the last being The Branson Creek Golf Course, Branson, Mo. He later worked at Oakwood Golf Course until retiring. He attended Nazarene Church.

Surviving are his wife, Tina of the home; four daughters, Tessa Barnes, Amber Walter, Billie Jo Hopkins and Coriane Hopkins, all of Enid; his parents, William J. and Phyllis Hopkins Sr. of Walnut Grove, Mo.; one brother, Richie Hopkins of Enid; two sisters, Ulanda Hall of Walnut Grove, Mo., and Juanita Amador of Great Bend; and one grandson.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home for funeral expenses.
