Funeral services for Kurt Douglas Hobbs Sr., 58, will be today, Jan. 27, 2007, at 10 a.m. at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon Tony Crispo will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Kurt was born Dec. 29, 1948, in Enid to Nelson and Betty (Tinder) Hobbs and died Jan. 24, 2007, after a long illness.

He graduated from Enid High School in 1966. He attended Northwestern College in Alva from 1966-1969.

He served in the Air Force from 1969 to 1976 as sergeant. He served in Thailand and then in Big Springs, Texas, and Glasgow, Mont. as an air traffic controller. From 1976 to 1979 he served on the Enid Police Department and from 1979-1996 he was a flight simulator operator at Vance Air Force Base.

He married Marilyn Webb on May 5, 1970, in Oklahoma City.

Kurt loved to fish and hunt, tinker with computers, collect movies and he loved Christmas. He was a gunfighter at Frontier City and also collected guns. He loved drag racing and going fast.

He is survived by his wife Marilyn, of the home; children, Kurt D. Hobbs Jr. and his wife Angill of Enid, Kelly Dugger and husband Buddy of Enid, David Hobbs of Midwest City; grandchildren, Derek and Dustin Maxwell, Dane Dugger and Lexie Overstreet, Nick, Ashley and Austin Hobbs, Kenda Case, Kurt D. Hobbs III; mother, Betty Lack formerly of Enid; sisters, Beth Steier and husband Ted of Enid, Frieda Kliewer and husband Glenn of Fairview and Beverly and Nelda Hobbs of Oklahoma City.

He was preceded in death by his father, Nelson J. Hobbs Sr.; stepfather, James Lack; brother, Nelson Jack Hobbs Jr.; and sister, Tammy Lack.

Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home as custodian of the funds.
