Funeral services for Carolyn M. Hicks, 71, Pond Creek, will be Thursday, October 13, 2011, at 2 p.m. in the Stittsworth Memory Chapel with Gene Goben officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the kind guidance of the Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service.

Carolyn was born August 15, 1940, in Lancaster, New Hampshire, the daughter of Charles and Ruby Holloway Riff, and went to meet her Lord and Savior Monday, October 10, 2011, after her long battle with cancer.

She graduated eighth grade in 1955 in McIndoe Falls, Vermont. Her family came to Oklahoma in 1955, making their home in Nowata, where she attended her high school years. Carolyn worked as a nurse aide for several years in Kansas; Pharmacil Laboratories in Arizona; Levi & Straus Company in Texas; and cleaned for the Pond Creek Post Office.

Carolyn joined her life as one with Walter J. Hicks September 19, 1964, in Nowata.

She was preceded in death by her father; grandparents, Herbert and Mary Riff and Silous and Julia Holloway; one brother, Donald Riff Sr.; and nephew, Joshua Riff.

Survivors include her husband, Walter of the residence; daughter Debbie Page and husband Greg and son James Hicks Sr. and wife Carol, all of Enid; her mother, Ruby of Blackwell; sisters, Gloria Begbie of Drummond and Sharon Haynes of Blackwell; brothers, Herbert Riff of Blackwell and Charles Riff Jr. of Franklin, Indiana; five grandchildren, Crystal McInturff and husband Chris of Stillwater, Shawn Shadduck and wife Shannon of Waukomis, Deanne Palmer, Brandi Hicks and Trampus Beckwith, all of Enid, and James Hicks Jr. and wife Beki of Stillwater; and 10 great-grandchildren, Cameron, Abigail, Wyatt, Chloe, Rylie, Trey, Zachary, Zoey, Grant and Scout. Memorial contributions may be made in Carolyn’s memory to Ross Hospice or Non Hodgkins Lymphoma Organization, with Stittsworth’s coordinating.
