Graveside service for Grover Edward Junior "Bud" Hess, 79, of Kremlin, will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2011, in Memorial Park Cemetery. Full military graveside rites will be conducted by the Disabled American Veterans. Service is under the kind guidance of Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service and Cremation Directors. Bud was born Feb. 26, 1932, at Enid General Hospital, the son of Grover and Winifred King Miller Hess, and passed away Friday, March 25, 2011, at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center.

His grandparents, Peter and Lily Lamberson Hess and John Lucas Von Willer and Annie Jeanette Colton Miller, ran in the Cherokee Strip on Sept. 16, 1893, and staked their claim north of Enid and near Douglas, Okla. Bud attended Carrier High School and worked in the maintenance department for several school district.

He was a veteran of the Korean War and a published poet. He lived most of his life in Enid and Kremlin, Okla., and Missouri. Bud had a great sense of humor and loved telling stories, writing poetry, fishing and reading the Bible.

Bud is survived by his daughters, Cindy Davis of Bartlesville, Okla., and Robin Tucker of Oklahoma City; sisters, Helen Dian Hess and husband Harry Goss of Tulsa, and Shirley Ann Hess and husband Bob Pohle of Dayton, Ohio; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Bud was preceded in death by wives, Virginia Stovall and Donna Carlton; son, Mark Hess; and half-sister, Loretta Long.
